Salvation Army Building Project

Salvation Army our Current Community Project

A Personal Note:
We are partnering with the Salvation Army in Petaluma to build a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse that will house disaster relief supplies for Sonoma County in an event of emergency. In addition to this the building will help in creating space that will provide for working with Senior Citizens as well as social skills classes for youth aged individuals.

This project gives us another opportunity to call upon local businesses, organizations, churches and individuals to come together and better their community. What can be accomplished with the completion of this building project will be a great asset to the community of Petaluma as well as the rest of Sonoma County.

However this can only happen if business and people are willing to help by giving of their time, resources and talents. Communities can experience great things when we begin to come together address needs within our community. We hope that you will have a desire to help in some way with the completion of this important project.

Thank you,
Ex. Dir. Laurence Becker

A Personal Note from Captain Scott Schneider
This project is so important to us here at The Salvation Army, because it will increase our effectiveness in so many ways, this one building will provide:

  • An efficient area to preform our daily social services, primarily food distribution and utility assistance (at this time our volunteers have to work very hard to move and sort and bag food for distribution).
  • Space for an after school tutoring and mentoring Program.
  • Senior citizen Day Programs.
  • Expanded Sunday school space from one classroom to 3.
  • The ability to store emergency disaster supplies in the event of a local or widespread disaster.* An emergency communications room, which will enable us to communicate world wide in the event of a disaster here or anywhere over the globe.

The salvation army here in Petaluma is primarily run by volunteers, without our partnership with Community Builders Group this project would be out of our reach, they are dedicated to recruiting volunteer tradesmen and community members to complete this building with the resources that are available to us.

VOLUNTEER SIGN UP

All work will be done under supervision of skilled tradesman. This allows for any less skilled/unskilled volunteer to be useful in completing the project with the help of individuals in our community.
